Prepare for a blue/green deployment

To prepare for a blue/green deployment, you must make sure that your applications have the correct settings.

Verify separation of the UI nodes and batch nodes​

A blue/green deployment requires that your application has separate nodes for the UI roles and batch roles. Check the settings for the InsuranceSuite application, and verify that UI & Batch roles is set. If it is not set, contact Guidewire and request it to be set. Note:

For single-node planets, you must request a temporary extra node before you can run a blue/green deployment. To request this node, contact Guidewire.

Verify the administrator user secret​

Check if you need an administrator user secret depending on the planet in which you're deploying the builds:

  • For non-production planets
    • Blue/green deployment requires that an administrator user secret is defined. This secret provides the credentials for the unrestricted user in the InsuranceSuite application. See Create a secret for the administrator user.
  • For pre-production and production planets
    • There's no need for an administrator user secret. Instead, authorization is done through Guidewire Hub.
