Roll back a production deployment
Rollback is a last resort action that you can perform only on a production planet. During a rollback, the production planet is down and you can't access the InsuranceSuite applications.
Rollback is a destructive action. It might cause loss of production data and further issues in your internal systems that are integrated with InsuranceSuite.
Rollback doesn't change your internal systems integrated with InsuranceSuite. If you perform a rollback while some data has been sent over to your system, you might have to retract this data in your systems as well.
Rollback of a production deployment is not the same as rollback of a blue/green deployment.
Database state
After a rollback, your database contains the data entered after the last Successful
activity ended. All the data entered within one minute before the next activity and after this point will be lost. The database backup that is used during rollback is made automatically by Guidewire. You don't see it on the list of your backups.
You must start a rollback within 24 hours from the point in time to which you roll back. After 24 hours, a rollback is not possible.
Prerequisites
For a rollback to be available as an action, the following conditions apply:
- The planet must be of production class and snapshot-enabled.
- Cloud Platform must be outside of the maintenance window. For details, see GWCP Production Maintenance schedule.
You can perform a rollback only from the latest activity in deployment history. This activity must be of the following types:
- All-IS deployment
- Selective deployment
- Blue/Green deployment
- Rollback of blue/green deployment

Rollback stages
A rollback consists of the following stages:
- All the InsuranceSuite applications are undeployed.
- The database rollback is executed in the assigned RDS cluster. This stage might take up to an hour.
- All the InsuranceSuite applications are deployed with the builds from the last successful activity.
