Latest activity journal

Use the latest activity journal to check each phase of the latest InsuranceSuite activity. The journal shows the latest or an ongoing activity. When you initiate another activity, for example, Deploy all IS or Deploy selected, the journal clears and starts showing phases for the new activity.

Note:

The activity journal shows details of the latest activity only. To check earlier events on a planet, see Deployment history. To check events for a particular app, use APM.

Activities

The activity journal shows particular phases of the following activities:

• Deploy all IS.
• Deploy selected, including the selective deployment and the blue/green deployment.
• Undeploy
• Roll back blue/green.
• For production planets, Roll back.

Note:

Selecting Stop deployment doesn't clear the activity journal.

Deployment phases and phase details

Each activity consists of a few deployment phases. The journal shows each deployment phase as a separate entry. This allows you to check which phase is completed, which phase is still in progress, or at which phase the activity failed. Each deployment phase might consist of several actions described in phase details. Phase details show particular actions within one deployment phase.

Deployment phases

Depending on what activity you're performing on the planet, the following deployment phases are displayed:

Initializing deployment	The deployment is starting.
Undeploying the previous deployment	The last successful deployment is being undeployed.
Muting monitors	The monitors for APM are being muted.
Unmuting monitors	The monitors for APM are being unmuted.
Post-undeployment operations	Additional post-deployment tasks are running.
Provisioning database	A database for this planet is being created.
Database post-creation operations	Additional tasks for the created database are running.
Provisioning database	The database is being assigned to this planet.
Waiting for database restore	The database is being restored for this planet.
Getting databases details	The database details are being collected.
Retrieving application credentials	The application credentials are being collected.
Deploying	The InsuranceSuite apps are being deployed.
Validating application credentials	The application credential set-up is being checked.
Waiting for URLs	Waiting for the URLs to be assigned to the InsuranceSuite apps.
Applications have been deployed	The InsuranceSuite apps are now deployed.
Waiting for HVQ URL	Waiting for the HVQ URL to be assigned to PolicyCenter.
Deployment failed	The InsuranceSuite apps aren't deployed.
Initializing upgrade	The selective deployment is starting.
Retrieving additional deployment parameters	The additional parameters for deployment are being collected.
Upgrading	Performing the selective deployment.
Applications upgraded	The selected apps are now deployed.
Initializing undeployment	The undeployment is starting.
Waiting for undeployment	Waiting for the undeployment to start.
Undeploying	The InsuranceSuite apps are being undeployed.
Deleting databases	The databases for the InsuranceSuite apps are being deleted.
Clearing InsuranceSuite deployment	The deployment and the database are being deleted for this planet.
Applications undeployed	The InsuranceSuite apps are now undeployed.
Initializing InsuranceSuite deployment deletion	The latest successful deployment of the InsuranceSuite apps is being deleted.
Undeploying applications	The InsuranceSuite apps are being undeployed.
Deleting databases	The databases of the InsuranceSuite apps are being deleted.
Deleting InsuranceSuite from the planet	The InsuranceSuite apps are being deleted from this planet.
Cleaning up resources	All the external resources related to the deployment, such as S3 buckets, are being deleted.
Clearing deployment	All the temporary information about the deployment is being deleted.
Applications deleted	All the InsuranceSuite apps are now deleted.
Empty	The InsuranceSuite apps are neither configured nor deployed on this planet.
Initialize stopping	The deployment of the InsuranceSuite apps is being stopped.
The process has been stopped	The activity is now stopped.
Waiting for database rollback	During production roll back, the database is being rolled back.
Collecting database details	The database details are being collected.
Waiting for database deletion	The database is being deleted.
Waiting for database provisioning	The database is being assigned to the planet.
Resuming database connectors	Resuming the CDA connectors after the database rollback and redeployment of the InsuranceSuite apps.
Getting deployment extensions	Environment variables are being retrieved for services, such as Secret Management or Runtime Properties, and for add-ons, such as Solr (Advanced Search).
Pausing database connectors	Pausing the CDA connectors before starting the production rollback.
Rolling back database	The production database is being rolled back.
The process has been cancelled	The activity is canceled.
Stopping	The activity is stopping.
Stopped	The activity has been stopped.

Phase details

Phase details might be happening for the whole deployment, all the InsuranceSuite apps at the same time, or only for particular apps or the database.

During deployment phases, the following phase details are displayed:

Waiting for URLs	The URLs for InsuranceSuite apps are being created.
Applications are undeployed	The InsuranceSuite apps are now undeployed.
Retrieving additional deployment parameters	The additional parameters for the deployment are being collected.
Retrieving application credentials	The application credentials are being checked.
Waiting for database provisioning	The database provisioning is about to begin.
Provisioning database	The database is being provisioned.
Getting expected IS urls	The URLs are being assigned to the InsuranceSuite apps.
Dropping Database	The database for this planet is being deleted.
Preserving Database	The database for this planet is waiting for the new deployment.
Waiting for db deletion	The database is being deleted.
Waiting for database rollback	For production rollback, the database is being rolled back.
Waiting for undeployment	The InsuranceSuite apps are being undeployed.
Preparing deployments	The deployment is about to start.
Clearing environment	The InsuranceSuite apps are being deleted.
Deleting Environment	The deployment is being deleted.
Ordering Database Restore	The database restoration is being ordered.
Upgrade initialization	The selective deployment is starting.
Undeploying applications	The InsuranceSuite apps are being undeployed.

Deleting RDS Cluster Data	Deleting the data of the database.

Upgrading	The selective deployment is running.
Requesting stop of deployment by	The activity has been stopped by a user.

Phases for blue/green deployment

For blue/green deployment, the following phases are displayed:

Deployment phase	Description
Blue/green deployment pending	Waiting for the deployment to start.
Starting blue/green deployment	The deployment is starting.
Checking deployment compatibility	Checking if the changes to the database schema are compatible with the blue/green deployment.
Deployment compatible	The changes are compatible. Your deployment can start.
Database upgrade approved	The changes that you want to introduce to the database schema are compatible with the current database schema.
Database upgrade in progress	The database is being upgraded.
Database upgrade completed	The database upgrade is finished.
Green cluster enabled	The green cluster is being enabled to move the application traffic from blue to green.
Shutting down blue batch servers	The blue servers with the previous version of code and database are being shut down.
Shutting down blue batch servers completed	The blue servers are shut down.
Shutting down the blue UI	The UI that ran on the blue servers is being shut down.
Scaling up the green UI	The UI that runs on the green cluster is being scaled up.
Scaling up the green UI completed, waiting for the planned shutdown	The green UI is ready. The timer with countdown is on.
Starting the shutdown	The blue UI shutdown proceeds.
Shutting down the blue UI in progress	The blue UI is being shut down and the green UI is in the read-only mode.
Shutting down the blue UI completed	The blue UI is down and the green UI is fully operational.
Selective deployment completed	The deployment is done.
Batch scale up	The green Batch nodes are being scaled up.
Failed during blue/green deployment.	The deployment failed. Try again or contact support.
UI service switched to green	The application traffic is now fully transferred to the green UI. The blue UI is no longer available. The app and the database have been upgraded.

Access the activity journal

To access the activity journal in Guidewire Home:

1. Select a star system.

2. From Apps , select Planets or select it from your pinned apps.

3. Select a planet.

4. From Applications and add-ons select InsuranceSuite.

5. In Latest activity, select Show details.

   During ongoing activities, Latest activity changes into Current activity.

   You can check the following information for each phase of the latest activity:

   • Start date
   • Deployment phase
   • Phase details
